First of all, the tv and picture is awesome. The only faults: the tv comes attached to the base, and the screws are not high quality and I almost stripped them getting them out to mount them on the wall. Other than that, great deal for a great tv. Also, it's REAL heavy too.Get more detail about LG 50PG30 50-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV.

I bought this set on the picture quality alone. While it had all the useful AV inputs one would normally expect, picture is it. Best reproduction of skin tones. I hope Mitsubishi comes out with a B-ray disc-player for home theather use. One less remote! Buy it. I used a TV test disc to put the set thru it's color spectrum paces. The ability to adjust 6 colors vs 3 colors is a purist delight. Too bad the orignator's of the displayed material aren't as picky or station to station transmission quality. Ran the movie "Bridges of Madison County" DVD(My wife's favorite)a couple of times to appreciate the outstand rendition of the "film". "WALL-E" is another must see. (Yes, I bought the DVD and Iam a "old" guy. No grand-kids.)Get more detail about Mitsubishi LT-40148 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV.

Ideal for DORM as computer monitor & TV save space with Excellent picture and best surround sound built in such a small size so I replaced 32" VIZIO in Living room to 32 Samsung like this one and same great picture on HDMI and I use to use external JVC surround Sound system because Vizio wasn't powerful enough which is not needed with Samsung!
Thanks for checking reviews smart buyers.

I recently got the LG32 inch and it setup and runs like a dream. Really pretty picture, color balance. Everything, except.....no audio outs on the set. I was all ready to hose it into my surround sound system and no go. Without a doubt, this Sony KDL46W3000 is the worst TV set I have ever owned. The picture, which I saw demonstrated in several stores on a HD link, is abysmal using any other input but HD. Surely Sony should have realized that only some broadcasts are in HD and most other sources of input are not. They could have compensated for those circumstances instead of letting the buyer suffer from a low quality picture.
The sound is no better. It is muffled and unintelligible in many broadcasts, and the Sound Leveler circuit does not appear to make any difference. I thought I was finally done adjusting the sound level from loud commercials to soft movie scenes, and I expected the TV set to strike some kind of balance. It doesn't.
Conclusion: Don't buy this TV set at any price. I paid $1847 and wish I had my money back. Based on reviews I have read of other Sony products (after I bought the TV), they no longer manufacture quality electronics. That's too bad. I've had nothing but good luck with this brand until now.

I've owned this panel for over a year now and I couldn't be happier although I have one minor peeve. I just purchased my first blu-ray player and there is no way to label an input blu-ray. Also I'd like to add I've played several discs at 1080p/24 and found none of the flickering problems mentioned by other reviewers. (Oppo BDP-83). If I get the 100,000 hrs quoted for the half life I'll be one happy camper.Get more detail about Panasonic Viera TH-50PZ800U 50-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV.

Bought the tv in the fall of '07 for just under 3k.
We had done our homework and this was a good buy at the time.
Pink pixels started appearing and we called a Samsung repairguy. He said that it would cost too much to repair and to buy a new one (around 1300). I looked up the problem online and MANY other people are having the same problem with this model.
Luckily, we had purchased an extended warranty but it expired last week. But Amazon has a 30 day grace period so another repair guy is coming out next week. Wish us luck! Get more detail about Samsung LNT5265F 52-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV.

I had originally planned to get a Panasonic plasma 50 inch. I had 3 sony's before and all had great pictures and i didn't want risk getting less quality. In came the46 XBR. I bought it as a floor model and saved a ton of money. I hooked it up in 10 minutes. The picture at first was great but it was very dim. I called sony the next day and they said to turn off the light sensor. POW. The picture went from great to incredible. It was bright, sharp, and 3D like. Cable is terific and Blue Ray's are stunning. I put in I Robot and the images looked like I was on the movie set watching it get filmed. The sound is great and sounds like you are in the threatre. Got this as an open-box item through Warehouse Deals which worked out completely well. The TV has, as others noted, a good picture and unimpressive sound; plenty loud, but tinny. But for a kitchen counter, it works, it set up rapidly and looks good whether on or off. And in the DTV channel era now here, the set is finding some very interesting channels being delivered by cable that I hadn't seen before.Get more detail about Samsung LN19A450 19-Inch 720p LCD HDTV, Black.

I have been using this TV for more than 6 months now. WOW, what a great TV and for a great price point. Very good picture quality.Get more detail about Samsung PN50A650 50-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV with RED Touch of Color.

First off, you need to know a little background about me. I am a gamer. I'm not just any gamer though: I play Wii games and PC games most of the time. Now the Wii has the ability to go to 480p, which isn't as good as the Xbox 360's 720p/1080i or the PS3's 1080p, but it's good nonetheless. For those knowledgeable about TVs, you know that many HDTVs on the market have 720p/1080i native resolutions, and more and more are becoming 1080p compatible. These TVs are known to have lag when displaying something smaller than its native resolution, since it has to upscale the image. Example: Try playing Wii's Guitar Hero games with a composite cable (Yellow, White, and Red), which outputs a standard 480i signal, on a 50 inch 1080p TV. You will notice that the actions in the game happen noticably later. Press A to have Mario jump in any Super Mario game and he jumps a few frames later than you expected.
Now I was looking for a TV with a 480p resolution because I am really sensitive to the aforementioned lag from upscaling an image. I play a little known game called Super Smash Bros. Melee (Super Smash Bros Melee), which requires almost frame-by-frame reflexes when played at a high level (You remember Ken Hoang from Survivor in Fall 2008? This is the game he was a world-reknowned champion at) (SSBM plays at 60 frames per second. That is 60 pictures that the TV is producing in 1 second), and any frames that are a little late throw off my game, and any gamer around me. A native resolution of 480p is a must for the TV I was looking for.
The other must was having the ability to plug in a PC VGA output. I own an HP HDX 16t (HP HDX16t Premium Series Customizable Notebook PC), which is one amazing laptop. It essentially is a desktop replecement being one of the few 16-inch notebooks on the market. Now, as a tech enthusiast, and one who loves to multitask, I need two monitors. I've been living a one monitor life for so long, but after purchasing this TV, I am one happy camper.
One major flaw I can find in this TV is that it is susceptible to what is known as ghosting. It's not really something that would make or break my descision about this TV, but it's definitely a problem that I know other people would be annoyed at.
Now, I have a bit of a comment about this product/product page... It says it has a 16:9 aspect ratio, but it's maximum resolution is 1440x900, and, if you do the math, it's definitely a 16:10 aspect ratio, which is not that big of a deal, but it is a minor lie. Now 1440x900 is a pretty good resolution and it can definitely display a 720p signal (usually 1280x720), but 1080i signals (usually a 1920x1080 resolution) will be downscaled to 1440x900 (or maybe even 1280x720, I'm not really sure how downscaling a 1080i image works). This is just something to watch out for. If you're looking for something that can do 1080i, this is not the TV for you. In fact, if you're planning on doing any living-room based TV watching, I would not recommend this TV at all. It's too small to notice the difference between SDTV and HDTV.
This is a perfect product, however, for those who want a TV on their desk/dresser/counter/whatever in the bedroom. This is also perfect for those who want to use the Wii's full graphical capabilities. My ex-roommate was talking to her boyfriend on the phone while I was playing Muramasa: The Demon Blade, and she was like "Oooh, pretty. I'm gonna stare at the TV for a bit..." Note: she is not a gamer at all, and that shows a lot about how 480p can make a difference in terms of just pure beauty that the Wii can display. Lastly, this is an awesome second monitor for my awesome notebook PC. Sure, it's smaller than some of the larger 1920x1200 monitors out there, but for someone who doesn't need an amazingly amazing resolution, this will make you happy. If you are someone who fits any or all of the criteria above about who this is perfect for, I'd say this is worth the purchase because this was definitely worth it for me.Get more detail about Audiovox FPE1708DV 17-Inch LCD HDTV with Built-in DVD Player.

I returned this TV for a few reasons. It was difficult to set up and the directions weren't as explanatory as they could be. I think someone may have returned this same item before as part of the setup was already done. Maybe they couldn't get any further either. The remote didn't work either and you needed it to finish the setup. I also couldn't get any reception so we were never able to actually watch it. The reception may have been because of our area, or it could have been that it was incorrectly setup, or a combination of both. In any case, after many many attempts to get it to work we decided not to keep it. We purchased another TV from Radio Shack that was slightly higher in price but it works like a charm.Get more detail about CTA Digital TV-P7 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

It is an amazing exprience to watch anything on this movie. I have not change any picture or image sttings (Contrast, birghtness etc.). Because I do feel, out the box settings are excellent. It is about 6 weeks that I had this TV. I feel this is the best among any PLASMA/LCD tv that you can find in any store. I did watch different TV sets of 63" or 65" size in SAMS, COSTCO and BESTBUY, I could not find a picture of this quality on any other TV. Sound is better than OK but not amazing but anyway I am going to use Home Theater system for getting 5.1 channel. The picture quality on this TV is absolutely amazing. I use this in a well-lit room with lots of windows and I have no problems with glare or the picture being hard to watch. The viewing angle makes this TV viewable from every spot in the room. I have a large old Toshiba analog ,cathode ray tube tv that has served me well for many years, so i bought this even tho i think it is over-priced. I do not notice the 720p limited definition and my very old parents certainly don't.
There are few white case /frame TVs available so this was a big plus in a brightly painted breakfast dining area. And as i said in the title, there is no separate dvd box and cable clutter with a separate remote. The left edge dvd player works great and is so easy to use. I would make the left edge markings larger for those with bifocals. 22" is a good size for viewing from 10-15 feet away, as that was a concern at first.
[...]
I did find ONE BIG PROBLEM IS THAT THERE IS NO LOUD VOLUME, just low and medium/conversation level. Also ,as another reviewer has pointed out, there is no favorite channels/return channel button, as on most remotes. Also wish this and all remotes were dark illuminated to you can find the right button without turning a lamp on.
The parents have Comcast , so the nice easy-to-understand white Toshiba remote gets no use and we are forced to use the 53 button, very confusing, overly complicated and cheap-looking black Comcast remote. Do wish Toshiba would keep the dvd controls below the switch circle, for more practical layout.
I would recommend this TV to a friend, but at a big annual sale price, not full retail.Get more detail about Toshiba 22LV506 22-Inch 720p LCD HDTV with Built In DVD Player, White.

I was very eager to receive this TV/DVD because it was one of the only ones to fit my requirements in terms of space, tv/dvd combo and price. It arrived in good shape but since the frame is plastic there were two major impressions where the styrofoam packing braces (designed to hold it securely in the box) dented the frame. Nevertheless, after spending some time (2 hours) trying to understand all the directions for assemblying the few parts, I called the company to disccover that there was a step missing--the process of scanning in the channels before being able to receive the signal. The techie was helpful and walked me through the steps. (I think it would help to have a sheet of simple steps that will take you directly through the whole process from plug in to usage.) I was happy enough with the clarity and brightness of the TV picture and the sound was quite good. However, when I tried to play dvd's--I tried 4--I couldn't get the dvd player (attached) to work. It said "Read" but never showed the picture instead claiming "No Disc" when clearly it had claimed it had read the data. I had trouble retrieving the disc--which after 7 or 8 tries on the "open" option (hidden in the directions) finally was ejected. It would help to use the word "EJECT" rather than "open/close" since there is no indication as to what those words actually refer to. I was very disappointed that the dvd component did not work since it meant sending back the whole unit.
Maybe I just got a lemon. I called the Coby company for the second time in three days and they told me to return it which I will do as I purchased it from Amazon. Very disappointing but maybe I will try to get another one--It is certainly not worth the original price of $500+ but may be worth $350.

I have been very pleased with the picture quality of this TV. It's easy to operate and the perfect size for a living room. When I was told by an Amazon sales rep that the product qualified for setup with delivery, but it turned out it didn't because it was on sale (great price!), an Amazon rep offered me a refund in the amount I paid Geek Squad to set it up. So a great customer service experience and a good deal. I've read some complaints about the sound on this set but I think the quality will suit the average viewer. This is one fantastic TV! I have had it for about a month now and have enjoyed every minute. The picture is sharp (really deep blacks) and the 120Hz technology really does make a difference. I was amazed at the lack of pixelation, especially when watching sports and blu-rays. I bought this and a sony bdp 350 from Amazon Warehouse Deals (both open box units) and each has performed beautifully. They shipped free and INCREDIBLY fast. Do not, under any circumstance, waste your money on this product! I bought this tv in February because it is digital and I needed to replace a non-digital one in my kitchen for the digital conversion. The size was right, and the price, with the added incentive of a built in dvd player. When I got the tv though, it wouldn't pick up ANY stations. Turns out it needs a separate antennae to have any hope of receiving a digital signal. I still was able to watch dvds on it though, so figured I'd just either buy an antennae later, or have it hooked up to cable. The sound quality however, is terrible. You have to turn it up to MAXIMUM volume when you watch dvds, and even then you can't hear some of the dialogue if the movie is a "low talker". Now, after only using it for 8 months, the dvd player has stopped working. So right now it's really just an expensive doorstop. I also have just crossed the 1 yr mark ( bought mine yr ago September). And wouldnt you know its just past 1 Yr warranty. I am getting what looks like a black mist about 5 inches across on the lower right corner of screen.
Really notice it when there is a bright image on screen. Have not dealt with Samsung yet, not looking forward to it, pretty sure its not covered. Geez only lasted one year, my 13 year old Sony CRT 32" is still humming along just fine!
Well, what can I say, I tested the waters of LCD's and liked the image, weight etc; but the life of these things, not to happy. Wonder if the LED version of these hold up any longer? Well time to call Samsung and get the run-around.

I wanted a TV for my home office and felt a 19 inch set would be more than adequate. We own a 36" Sharp for our downstairs family room which is now about 3 1/2 years old. We love its picture and quality so I looked for a Sharp if possible.
I found this set at Wal-Mart for $168.00 which I thought was a good price. All I did was unpack it, attach the coaxial cable and plug it in. I haven't fussed with any adjustments. And though the PC connection is a big plus for me I have no tested it yet. So I do not know if HDMI adapters or HDMI/VGA cables are best for this TV.
I will touch on this though, High Def sources are best for this screen. If you own a Wii or anything that can not outsource above 420p do not expect mouth dropping results. The TV does a respectable job buts not what its meant for.

I bought this TV in October 2008.It was shipped to me, in south Florida, from California and out of the box the picture and sound were great.
I have Dish Network HD service and the receiver to the TV connection is HDMI.I also have a VCR\DVD combo unit connected using component cables.
I have the Sony 32S3000 which is now 20 months old and I calibrated it using AVIA II.So,I used those values for the 37M initially, and after about six weeks of use I calibrated it using AVIA.The value differences were very slight.
I have a feeling the negative reviews are based on initial impressions and maybe there is a bad connection or an incorrect connection. The Sony manual is very informative.
Also, set your receiver to the native resolution of the TV, which is 720P.I also have the sound set to PCM ONLY and the RF MODE on the Dish receiver. This prevents the sound levels from fluctuating in two channel stereo.
I think this TV, as well as my other Sony, are fantastic.I definitly recommend.

I have been researching on and off for almost 6 months trying to find the "perfect" tv that will fit my needs and my pocketbook. I have reviewed the technical details and the specifications of numerous tvs and had narrowed the search down to the Samsung LN46B630 and the Phillips 47 PFL6704D. I had decided on the Samsung and went to my local Sam's Club to buy it when the manager of the electronics area, told me they had a rash of returns on the Samsungs over the last month.
I had no reason not to switch as both units were at the top of my list, but after making my decision and purchasing the Phillips and using it for 10 days, I know I made the right decision.
Arriving home with the TV my wife assisted me in removing it from the box. This task is made very easy by the clever design of the box. It is a two person job. Do not try it by yourself as you are likely to tip it over and damage the TV. The next day, the Direct TV guy came and installed our dish and hooked up the tv. He hooked up the tv and couldn't believe the tv didn't appear to need any adjustment right out of the box. He also couldn't believe how effective the matte screen reduced the amount of reflection nearly to zero.
I have only had one LCD TV and that was a 26inch Vizio in my RV. It seemed to take forever to get that adjusted for acceptable color etc. The Phillips seemed to need no adjustment so I thought I would wait for a few days before making any adjustments. The PFL670 is a 120 Hz so one sees no "judder" and its 2 ms response time is so fast you don't have ANY lag time or jerky movements during fast action scenes. The colors are bright and vivid it kind of reminded me of when I got new glasses my entire world brightened up. So it is with the Phillips TV. I have a friend who is a TV tech at a national electronics store coming over tomorrow. He told me he will be glad to make any adjustments since they don't sell Phillips at his store. He wants to be able to compare it to the Samsung and other models they do sell. He was very skeptical that the set would be "IN TUNE" right out of the box. If possible, I will come back and make additions and corrections to this review when he has completed his "tune up". In summary, my wife and I are both pleased beyond belief that we found a TV that meets all our needs including the lack of reflections by the matte screen. We wish that all our decisions would work out this well.
I want to add, that I don't think it fair that people mark a TV up or down with delivery issues. The delivery has nothing to do with the product and it's performance. Delivery is a separate issue. I rate the Phillips soley on it performance and its specs. I try to compare it to other products and their specs. When a product does not meet its specs it should be downgraded in the review. In the case of this particular Phillips TV, in my opinion, this model meets or exceeds all the specs. The contrast issue of 50K to 1 with this model is reduced by the matt screen. If you have a glossy screen you will have a sharper black. However, with a matte screen and a setting with the potential for reflection, our living room with a walk thru patio door, we were more concerned with reflection than we were with sharper blacks. After all, 50K is right up there with the best of them regardless of the matte screen.

Bought this tv in August of 2008. June of 2009 we started getting thin vertical lines on 1/2 of the screen. Called LG service since it is still under warranty. Sent a service guy out right away. So far, so good. Service guy said it needed a new display panel. He tried to order one. The part is no longer available. Waited weeks to hear back from LG. Called several times. Always get some dot head over in India that won't put you through to anyone who can help. I continue to call daily just to complain and am finally told that they found the needed part and are arranging to have it installed. Service guy shows up again with a new display panel. One problem....not the right part. Won't work. Call the dot head again. He apologizes and is "so embarrassed" that things have taken so long. Unfortunately, he must send my file to another department....the one that you can't talk to.
So, going on two months now. No word and no help from Hadji.
Unless you are getting this TV for free, I would get a different brand.Get more detail about LG 52LG50 52-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV.

With caution and some reservation, I purchased a "like new" Sony KDL-46Z4100 from Amazon.com Warehouse. Not only was it actually "like new" as advertised, but six months have now passed and it is still priced higher at the discount stores than I paid through Amazon.com Warehouse. I don't see myself ever buying electronics any other way. They just depreciate way to fast to pay new retail prices, even when on sale.Get more detail about Sony Bravia Z-Series KDL-46Z4100/B 46-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV, Black.

Clearest picture I've seen on a TV. I cannot wait until larger OLED screen sizes are available.
I placed mine on my office desk. It's large enough to view comfortably from this distance, and I can clearly read the Bloomberg scroll.Get more detail about Sony XEL-1 11-Inch OLED Digital TV.

To say that this tv runs on regular batteries is very misleading. The docking station is needed to do so. The picture is good and the sound is okay. The magnetic antenna is useless unless you live very close to the broadcast source. The antenna connector on the tv is recessed in a hole that is too small to accept most antenna cables.Get more detail about Tivax HiRez7 Portable 7-Inch Digital Widescreen TV.

When watching in a dark room, there's massive backlight bleeding, meaning there's big white-ish areas in the bottom left and top right. The color is of course completely washed out in those areas. Going to try exchanging it first, in hopes that it's just this unit. Typically this type of thing results from shoddy design, though.
Other thoughts: picture scaling on over-the-air HD channels is horrid. You have to go thru 4 submenus, and then your choices are, center smaller images in the middle of the TV, distort the hell out of them, or zoom to the point where much of the image is cropped out. Make your choice, change to channel a channel with different resolution, and you have to repeat these steps. How embarrassing! The UI for the rest of the functions on the remote is equally poor, and the scrollwheel is unusable (thankfully you can click through it as an alternative). Clearly they need to hire a usability nerd away from Sony or Apple.
The bezel (and the display) is so shiny it'll mirror any direct lighting in your room right back to you.
Save your money.

This Tv is by far worth my money. I look forward to coming home and using it. The 120hz automotion plus makes HD movie viewing 100 times more enjoyable and is so chrystal clear. It feels like I'm actually there. It works great with my blu-ray player.Get more detail about Samsung LN52A630 52-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color.

This is my second Haier TV I purchased a 7" portable model for use during power outages, but it needs a decent outdoor antenna because im in a fringe area, get about 8-10 channels.
The 22" model I just purchased was easy to set up has a great picture and sound for a smaller TV.
Has numerous custom setting features and can be viewed from a decent angle. The 22" picture is great for a medium size room.
I read numerous reviews on 19" TV's and found them to be lacking in one feature or another, I was suprised to see the 22" Haier model so I though I would Try it.
Works for me!Get more detail about Haier HL22R1 22-Inch LCD HDTV.

Excellent picture quality, decent sound for its size. Auto channel programming seems a little wonky, but that may be my local cable provider's fault. Very good television for a small area, viewed from around 6 to 8 feet away. Get more detail about Philips 22PFL3504D/F7 22-Inch 720p LCD HDTV.
